In this work, I look closely at the dynamics at play between emotions and the visual displays of language in a variety of media. For Goodbye I embroidered the word “goodbye” over and over again, unable to find the words to say goodbye to a dear friend. The motion, piercing the fabric and pulling the thread to embed a word, became a ritual where I could both grieve and find closure.
